Policy
Shipping, pickup, and transaction policy
Logistics are planned around protecting seller effort and making collection practical for buyers.
Seller control and listing approval
Sellers retain possession of inventory until the agreed transaction and pickup process. No inventory is marketed, offered, or sold through Sell the Surplus without the seller’s approval of the applicable plan and terms.
Location and buyer coordination
A seller’s exact address is not published in a listing. Location, pickup details, and contact information are coordinated when appropriate for the transaction.
Title, ownership, and condition
Sellers confirm that they have the right to offer the inventory and confirm the material condition disclosures used for a listing or sale. We may request clarification or documentation where appropriate.
Buyer review
Buyer verification and additional review may apply to higher-risk transactions, inventory categories, or pickup arrangements. This review does not guarantee a buyer’s performance or payment.
Preferred logistics
Where practical, local buyer pickup is preferred. Buyer-arranged freight is the next preferred option. Seller-arranged shipping is considered only when specifically approved.
Before pickup
The seller and buyer should agree on available pickup windows, packaging or pallet requirements, loading capability, and any required documents before a pickup is scheduled.
Freight
Freight needs can vary based on dimensions, weight, pallet count, freight class, location, and access requirements. Any freight quote or recommendation is an estimate until confirmed by the selected carrier or provider.
Disputes, returns, and exceptions
Payment, pickup, delivery, return, and exception questions are evaluated under the transaction-specific terms and this policy. Questions or issues should be reported promptly so the appropriate next step can be considered.
Payment
Sell the Surplus does not represent itself as an escrow provider. Payment and settlement terms, if any, are communicated in the transaction-specific plan.
